“Serum 2 Explained®” provides a complete walkthrough of Xfer Records’ Serum 2 hybrid synth. In this course, Larry Holcombe breaks down each section of the instrument so you can understand how every parameter shapes the sound. The training begins with a guided tour of the interface, covering the core layout and major components. From there, you’ll explore the oscillators in depth, including general oscillators, wavetable synthesis using the Wavetable Position control, and how different sound sources form the basis of a patch. Next, the course examines the Multisample oscillator and the built-in Sampler for chopping and triggering samples and loops. Additional lessons cover granular synthesis, spectral synthesis, noise and sub-oscillators, two filter types, the FX page, envelopes (AHDSR), up to 10 LFOs, macros, the Mod Matrix, and the arpeggiator.
