Description
A detailed upright piano, with soft felt placed between the hammers and the strings for a beautiful, delicate tone. Performed by jazz legend and Mercury Prize nominee Gwilym Simcock and expertly recorded with close ribbon mics at Spitfire Studios, London. This beautiful felt piano offers a warmth and level of detail that provides a perfect sonic counterpoint to the bright, powerful grand pianos that often adorn many recordings. This instrument includes 4 sound flags; the main piano; short staccato; reverse staccato and an ambient pad.
Wonderful, soft sound. Works well in musescore, responsive devs; highly recommend!
It only fits soft pieces, otherwise just use the normal Musescore piano.
didn't think I would but it's one of my favorite piano plug-ins
Honestly sounds so nice and was exactly what I was looking for. Definitely would recommend.

**Update to the review of the Felt Piano** (May 2025)
I received an email from a muse team member to notify me that the ringing feedback was resolved. I reinstalled the Felt piano sound, and to my surprise, the sound works flawlessly now! Timbre changes with dynamics, and this sound is very nice for solo or ambient piano scoring. Very enjoyable to listen to :) Awesome job on responding with action to feedback, Muse. Please continue to keep it up! However, if I had to add any critical points to my thoughts on the sound, I would criticize the sound's responsiveness to Accents / Marcato marks. There's unfortunately no emphasis added to the volume of a note or chord when an accent / marcato mark is added to the note or chord. Would've loved to have that function just as the MuseSounds pianos do.
**Nov 2024:**
There's a very loud "tinitus-like" high frequency ringing that bleeds through OVER the piano, and gives me a headache very quickly... The recorded piano sounds awesome, but I just can't with the ringing noise... Sounds like when you get flashed in Call of Duty and your screen is 100% whitewashed. (IYKYK..)
This is now the 4th time I've given these new sounds a chance. (Spitfire, Cinesounds, and Berlin, I have tried, now.)
These VSTs are extremely unpolished, and it's almost as if the Muse team refused to do test runs and stress test these sound packs before putting them out for sale for over $20.00 per set... Guys, I know you can do better than this... Your brass sounds have terrible intonation and dynamic responses, pitching up and down randomly WAY out of tune, playing too loudly during soft notation and too softly during loud notation, just to give another example of the flaws. Unfortunately, this renders these packs entirely unusable to me... I'd love a fresh coat of paint on playback, and I'm continuing to give y'all a chance, but end up requesting a refund every time, so far... Clean up the audio in these! PLEASE!
The sounds are realistic, but there is a noice that distracts me and i couldn’t find a way to fix it.
This sound is really well done. It encompasses the fullness of a felted piano very well. The middle register was spot on. The higher register had a bit of trouble playing at a uniform dynamic at times, with some high notes (especially highest octave) coming through a bit loud. The lower register is muffled really well; sounds just like one would expect. I'm planning on using this a lot!
Honestly, if you are serching for a sound font that sounds “realistic” this is one of them. You can hear even the sounds of the “key pressing” and “releasing”. The only negative is that if you lisen really closely you can hear a bit of white noise wich dosnt always align. Also the dynamic range isn’t that big (but is expected, after all its a felted piano). Nevertheless, its still a great sound font.
