“HyperPop Production Explained®” explores the sound design, processing, and arrangement techniques behind modern HyperPop. In this course, Gary Hiebner breaks down the core elements of the genre, demonstrating how to build energetic, exaggerated productions using extreme layering, heavy processing, and bold sonic choices. The training begins with an overview of the HyperPop style, including chord progression and tempo concepts used in the featured track. You’ll learn how to design an 808-style bass in Vital and enhance it with layering and additional processing for the overdriven character typical of the genre. From there, the focus shifts to drum programming and processing, covering pop, trap, and pop punk beat styles, as well as techniques such as compression, multiband compression, clipping, saturation, distortion, and layering with break loops. Additional sections explore lead synth creation, chiptune-style sounds, vocal processing and layering (including pitch correction and formant shifting), distorted snares, transition effects, tempo changes, and arrangement development. By the end, you’ll understand the essential production techniques used to craft expressive, high-impact HyperPop tracks.
