This totally rocks, I think the Trumpets A4, Trombones A3, & Horns A6 could use another update to share the same ranges as their solo counterparts (Trumpet, Trombone, & Horn in F respectively) for more flexibility along w/ a Tuba section sound (same range as the solo tuba sound). Also the Falls, Doits, Plops, & Scoops should work on all notes of every length even if it's a single note (as well as on the final note of every tied note).
Compared to the defalt sounds, this thing should be monetised. It’s a ridiculously large improvement with much richer tones, improved control over sound, and just really awesome. Why are these not the defalt sounds for MuseScore?
I really love the soundfonts you guys used. Especially with the dynamics! Some things that could be improved are the style of articulations, inconsistent balancing among the brass, the range of the instruments, and the lack of a few important instruments. 1. Articulations for brass seem to be muddled and inconsistent, especially when I'm writing double tonging passages. It just seems like a mess of notes 2. The trumpet section is overall just too quiet. Even with the a4 soundfonts, i'm having to raise them up quite a bit, which overall ruins the ensemble sound that I personally look for 3. The instrument's range in the solo sound font is great, it captures the near full rane of the instrument. I suggest that you allow for an even broader sense of range, its lacking pedal tones, which ARE important aspects of the instruments range. The main problem is the section sound. The section sound (especially trupets) cannot go as high as I want and as low as I want (trombones). I think that expanding their range would allow for more expressive writing 4. The most important thing I wish to address is the lack of instruments in this sound font. The lack of baritone and euphonium sound is concerning when I think of orchestral brass. And on another tangent, the lack of marching brass (mellophone, marching baritone/euphonium) also concerns me because I compose with the perspective of a drum corps. Trombones do the job, but they are just too loud and the tone doesn't match what I look for when I want a baritone or euphonium. Overall I love this sound found, but there is still some work that needs to be done for it to be perfect. Thank you for making this sound font, and I hope my suggestions will make it to your team!
I enjoy thew muse brass but some things are left out. There should be a3 players for tuba and cimbasso a big band needs a big sound for tubas it needs more players. There is a few instruments that are left like a fluegelhorn baritone and a bass trumpet. But overall, these sounds are fantastic
In general all the brass is unbalanced in terms of dynamics, but the trumpets sound is so bad. Is not realistic and it dosn’t sound like a trumept. Please fix that.
The trumpets, French horns, and trombones are so quiet when in the low register, and it does not sound that brassy in the low register. You start to hear it when its played in the high register. I don't know if its a bug, a glitch, or that's how real brass instruments sound though.
My main problems are with the tuba support as I use that most. The first problem is the lack of Euphonium support this forces me to use the provided tuba range, which cuts off the high range a little shorter than I'd like for a Euphonium. My second issue is the low range of the tuba, I feel it should reach to third F below bass clef just to get all the pedals. I'd also like to see more instruments in general. Maybe some Flügelhorn, cornet, Tenor horn, and Euphonium, as mentioned previously.
as a concert band composer, I'd say that this is decent. However, some issues I have: the higher dynamics are very "blasty" (ESPECIALLY with the trombones, they sound like they're blasting their lungs out) and can cause trouble with balancing, especially if they have their own passage with other instruments. (i.e. low brass + low reeds) It goes the same with the lower dynamics, where the brass instruments are very quiet. It feels like there's a very big leap; too large of a leap between mezzo-forte and forte. Overall, it's good for what is. The trumpets and horns don't suffer too much from the dynamic problems (unless they're below mp). It would be great if you could redo some of these instruments at more realistic tempos.
As a whole the sound of this library is very good. However, as the title implies, accents are played very incorrectly in the score. Instead of giving proper accentuation to a note, short notes in particular, the accent articulation makes them staccatto! Please fix this… I otherwise love to use Berlin Brass in my DAW, but here it is rough in places like these.
In general, MuseSounds suffers from a dynamic balancing issue where 'forte' is too loud and 'piano' is too soft. It is at its worst with the brass. Solo trombone with a 'piano' marking will sometimes make no sound at all (the mixer literally shows no gain), and the same passage with a 'forte' marking is almost unbearable. Tuba is mixed for orchestra and therefore drowns out other brass soloists at most dynamic points. Horn seems to be the least affected, which is ironic since the MS Basic horns are noticeably quieter than its counterparts.
the trumpets are way too quiet, and the trombones are a little too rough at forte. Also no euphonium sound.
this sound Library is great, especially the french horns, however, the trumpets are poorly mixed, which makes them very discret, and the mute trumpets are even worse, you can't even hear them without the mastering plugin, but the rest of the brasses are really well made.
