Description

CineBrass offers a modern “Hollywood” sound, and a solid orchestral brass foundation for your scores. Recorded at the legendary MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, by veteran scoring engineer legend Dennis Sands, this collection offers a solid roster of articulations, true legato for every instrument, and a powerful sound capable of bold and brassy action sequences, or warmer, detailed solo lines. Recording union players in Los Angeles allowed Cinesamples to record some of the most in-demand studio players in LA, including members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and have been heard on countless major film and TV projects.

True legato and espressivo legato interval sampling
Sustains with smooth dynamic morphing
Speed controlled staccatos
Marcato and Tenuto accent attacks
Stopped/Muted sustains (2 Trumpets, 2 Trombones, 4 horns only)
Flutter/Rips (4 Horns only)

I bought this soundfont solely for the "harmon" that you could put on trumpets, because for whatever reason no soundfont has a harmon mute sound, but this one advertised that it did. Spent 60 dollars and gave it a try, just to find out that the "harmon" text literally changes nothing about how the instrument sounds whatsoever. That is not exaggeration; the playback button in the properties menu is actually greyed out because there is no playback effect. Extremely annoyed by the poor advertising (or direct lying, if it was intentional).

Since I first bought this library, I was shocked at the aggressiveness and amazing tone this library has. The accents on the ensemble brass sound like staccato overlays, but that doesn't matter to me. I for sure recommend this library.

I am impressed by almost everything in this. The solo and 2x trumpet and also "Trombone 1" are my absolute favorites from this set. There is one thing I have to criticise though. As a trombonist myself, I am very disappointed by the Bass Trombone in this set. On the normal "f" you seem to have a recording mistake. It always makes it sound like a like a little grace note before it, which is really annoying. You also have the same happening on the "c" below that "f". Even as a whole, the Bass Trombone is lacking in depth of sound especially when playing "forte". But overall, I am deeply impressed by 85% of this set. If the Bass Trombone is improved, it could be 100% soon.

Particularly impressed with the double/quadruple/16x French Horns and 2x trumpets. Have lifted the brass in composions like never before. Impressive.

The solo trombone (Trombone 1) is unusable. It has issues where the sounds bleeds and is off key. "Trombones" does not have this issue, only "Trombone 1". I will remove my review when this is fixed.

Overall a good array of samples, but theres a lack in variety when it comes to the trumpets and trombones. A few more solo or ensamble options would be nice. Horns: It’s really nice to see a library with so many horn ensambles. Solo, 2, 4, and even 12 horns! Unfortunately, theres no samples for 8 horns. Trumpets: The sound is very thin and brassy, and I personally am not a huge fan. It’s also unfortunate that there is only 1 solo trumpet and trumpets a2, but no trumpets a3 or a4.
